I'm Bastian, and Trinkfluss Wines is the realization of a dream that’s been close to my heart for many years now. Up and down the country one can find many outstanding wine shops with an incredible diversity of wines from all corners of the world, but I often found myself searching in vain for a truly dynamic selection of wines from Germany and Austria—regions brimming with untold stories and hidden gems. Especially in the digital space there has always been somewhat of a vacuum when it comes to these wines. So, with over 16 years in the wine industry under my belt, I knew it was about time to finally bring this passion project to life and make my dream a reality. 

But why Austria & Germany you may ask? And why the name Trinkfluss? Too often, wines from these regions are overlooked and underrepresented, treated as an afterthought on shelves packed with the same familiar labels. But behind the scenes, a wine revolution has been taking place in Germany and Austria. A new generation of winemakers has been quietly transforming family-run estates, pushing the boundaries of tradition, and crafting wines that are as innovative as they are rooted in history. These aren't always the classic Grüner Veltliners or Rieslings (though we love them, too). No, this is something much more exciting—something that deserves to be shared, celebrated, and savoured.

Just think of German Spätburgunder and its entrance on the worlds Pinot stage. Frankly, some of the German Pinots I’ve tasted in recent years have outshone Burgundies at the same price point, and I’ll choose a serious Grüner Veltliner over a Pinot Grigio any day. Yes, the Germanic wine world can seem intimidating—sometimes even confusing—but I promise you, the reward for exploring these wines is nothing short of remarkable. These bottles offer incredible value, surprising depth, and above all, pure enjoyment. And isn’t that what wine is supposed to be about?

And that brings us to the second question- Why Trinkfluss? The German term Trinkfluss doesn’t have a direct English translation, but it beautifully captures a specific feeling when enjoying wine. Literally meaning “drinking flow,” it refers to how easily and effortlessly a wine can be enjoyed—something that’s refreshing, balanced, and inviting, making you naturally want to take another sip. It’s not about how quickly you drink but about the wine’s harmony, drinkability, and how it encourages you to savour it without overthinking.

They aren’t overly heavy, unnecessarily complex, or too bold and overworked—they’re simply pleasurable.
